Ayahuasca Retreats in Peru with Integration Guided by Ancestral Plant Medicine
Guided by Amazonian shamans and supported by psychological integration, our ayahuasca retreats in Peru offer a safe and experienced setting for deep work with plant medicine.
How Our Ayahuasca Retreats in Peru Are Held
At Takinuna, our ayahuasca retreats in Peru are held through the integration of Amazonian tradition and psychotherapeutic support, bringing together complementary perspectives that enrich the experience and deepen the level of support we can offer.
Guided by Amazonian Shamans
Our retreats are created and guided by Amazonian shamans, whose knowledge shapes how the work is approached. Their presence continues throughout the retreat, accompanying what arises and holding the process within the tradition from which it originates.
A Carefully Held and Supported Setting
The retreat takes place in a carefully held setting, where each participant is supported throughout the process with attention, experience, and respect for their individual rhythm.
Psychological Integration Within the Retreat
The work is held with care, clear boundaries, and respect for each person’s rhythm and personal process, creating an environment where participants can feel safe and at ease throughout the retreat.
A Safe and Inclusive Environment
The retreat is held in a space where each person can feel safe, welcome, and at ease throughout the process. It is an inclusive environment that supports individual experience and respects different backgrounds, allowing participants — including solo travelers, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community — to engage with the work in a way that feels comfortable and supported.
A Process That Continues Beyond the Ceremony
What is experienced in ceremony continues to unfold in the following days, as participants begin to relate to what has emerged with greater clarity and understanding. Through integration, the process gradually extends beyond the ceremonial space.
The Amazon Rainforest as Part of the Process
Our retreats take place in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, where the natural environment becomes part of the process. It supports moments of rest, reflection, and integration between ceremonies, offering a setting where participants can step away from daily distractions and remain more connected to their experience.
At Takinuna, the plants are not used as an end in themselves, but as a means through which the work is guided with intention and care.
The Role of Amazonian Shamans in Ayahuasca Retreats in Peru
Takinuna was founded and is led by Amazonian shamans with extensive experience in plant medicine, shaping how our ayahuasca retreats in Peru are held and guided.
Their role extends beyond leading ceremonies. They remain present throughout the retreat, accompanying each participant’s process as it unfolds and offering guidance in relation to what emerges over time.
This ongoing presence allows the work to be held with continuity, within the tradition from which it originates, while being attentive to each person’s individual experience.
They are also skilled vegetalistas, working with medicinal plants and traditional treatments that may be offered according to each person’s needs. Explore Shamanic Healing in Peru.
Psychological Integration in Ayahuasca Retreats in Peru
Integration as a Core Part of the Process
The experience with ayahuasca does not end with the ceremony. What emerges during the retreat often requires time, reflection, and appropriate support to be understood.
At Takinuna, psychological integration is included as part of the retreat, offering a structured space where participants can work with their experience alongside a trained professional.
These sessions allow participants to explore what has arisen during the ceremonies, relate it to their personal history, and begin to understand emotional patterns with greater clarity.
This process supports a gradual integration of the experience, allowing what is lived during the retreat to take on meaning over time and continue beyond the ceremonial space. Learn About Integration.

Bobinsana Master PlantA Safe and Supported Setting for your Process
Our ayahuasca retreats in Peru are held in a safe and carefully supported setting, where each participant is accompanied throughout the process by experienced Amazonian shamans and a professional team.
Before the Retreat
Before the retreat, we speak personally with each participant to understand what is bringing them, what they are currently going through, and whether this is the right moment to enter this type of process. This conversation helps us assess readiness, expectations, and the level of support each person may need.
Participants are then invited to complete a health and personal information form, where they can share any relevant medical history, current medications, and physical or psychological conditions we should be aware of. This information helps us understand each person’s situation in a general way and assess readiness for the process. It does not replace medical advice or clinical evaluation, and participants are encouraged to consult with their healthcare providers when needed.
Preparation and Guidance
Preparation begins before arrival. Each participant receives a preparation guide with recommendations on how to approach the retreat physically, mentally, and emotionally. During the retreat, participants are offered a retreat guide and a personal journal to support reflection and integration after each ceremony.
Participation is not based on availability alone. We take time to evaluate whether each person is in a place where this process can be supportive, and we communicate this openly and with care.
During the Retreat
During the retreat, the group remains small, allowing for close attention and continuous presence of the team. The work is guided by experienced Amazonian shamans, with integration supported by a psychotherapist.
Care is present throughout the entire retreat — not only during ceremonies, but also in the days between, during moments of difficulty, and in the integration process.
What This Care Includes
The safe and supported setting described above is sustained through a structured level of care that accompanies the process before arrival, during the retreat, and throughout the work with the medicine.

- Review of health, medication, and readiness

- A retreat guide and personal journal

Ayahuasca Retreats in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru
Takinuna Healing Centre is located in the Peruvian Amazon, around 30 minutes by boat from Iquitos, where the environment becomes part of the process during an ayahuasca retreat in Peru.
The centre is surrounded by forest and has no road access, offering a quieter setting away from the pace and distractions of daily life.
Life here follows a simpler rhythm, with limited electricity and reduced connection to digital devices, allowing participants to remain more present with their experience.
Being in the Amazon is not only a change of location, but a condition that supports the work itself. The sounds of the forest, the presence of the river, and the natural environment can help create space for reflection and introspection.
The retreat takes place in direct relationship with the environment in which these traditions originate, supporting the work with plant medicine in a way that is connected to its context.
