How to Learn the Medicine of Plants: Ayahuasca, Huachuma, Tobacco, and Camalonga
Discover the true path to learning the medicine of master plants and the importance of isolation diets in spiritual healing.
Before Starting a Master Plant Diet
A Teaching from Don Cesar, Master Healer at Takinuna Healing Centre

Learning the medicine of master plants is not an easy or superficial path. It is a profound journey of dedication, discipline, and spiritual connection. To become a true healer, one must walk the path of light, allowing the spirits of the medicine to guide both the body and the spirit. It is not just about learning techniques or rituals but about transforming into a pure channel of healing.
One of the first steps in this learning process is purification through isolation diets. These diets not only cleanse the physical body but also help release thought structures and acquired habits that block the connection with the spiritual world. In modern society, we are full of distractions and beliefs that limit our spiritual growth. Therefore, master healers recommend retreat and discipline, allowing the essence of the master plants to act upon our mind, body, and spirit.
True medicine is not learned through theories or material desires. It is learned through direct experience, dedication, and absolute respect for the spirits of the plants. Each person must purify their heart and mind to receive the genuine teachings of nature.
Pure and Authentic Medicine
In the healing path, one must understand that every ceremony is unique. Patients cannot all be treated the same way, as each arrives with their own wounds and needs. Don Cesar teaches that the ícaros, sacred healing songs, must be different in each ceremony, adapting to the energy and needs of the patient. A repetitive and directionless icaro lacks life; true healing happens when the healer sings with connection and spiritual guidance.
To be a true healer, one must not mix spiritual medicine with external human knowledge. The essence of the medicine is pure from its origin, and its power lies in its authenticity. Those who seek to learn this path must understand that medicine is not about human-created techniques or rituals but a deep connection with the spirits of the plants and universal energy.
The Wisdom of Master Plants in Amazonian Culture
Ayahuasca and Spiritual Connection
Ayahuasca, lovingly known as “Grandmother Ayahuasca” worldwide, is the master and mother of all plant spirits. Its purpose as medicine is to guide, teach, and heal us. It opens the spiritual world for us to see ourselves deeply and provides the necessary tools for our healing. With the guidance of the shamanic master, who channels this medicine through healing songs and plant remedies, ayahuasca grants us access to nature’s great pharmacy to heal our body, mind, and spirit.
Respect for Master Plants
Every master plant has its own medicine and must be treated with respect and care. At Takinuna, we protect and honor our master plants, ensuring they are used with the right intention and in harmony with their spirit. Today, many people shorten the name of ayahuasca to “Grandmother Aya,” which, for ayahuasca masters, is considered disrespectful. In our center, we treat ayahuasca with the reverence it deserves, just as we do with huachuma (San Pedro), whom we consider “Grandfather Huachuma.”
Each plant is a sacred being: Grandmother Bobinsana, Grandfather Tobacco, Grandfather Camalonga, Grandfather Lupuna. These master plants are sacred spirits, just like the sun (Inti Tayta), the moon (Mama Quilla), the water (Yacumama), the earth (Pachamama), and the air (Huayra Mama), which give life and sustain humanity in balance within the universe.
The Dedication of the Master Healer
A master healer has devoted their time and life to the medicine of plants. Their path is marked by sacrifice, dedication, and total commitment. Learning medicine is not just for personal benefit but for keeping the ancestral fire alive, with the commitment to preserving traditional medicine from generation to generation. Their sole purpose is to heal the world, caring for our nature and essence.
The sacred song of the medicine must never be extinguished, as it is the guiding voice that calls those seeking true healing. At Takinuna Healing Centre, we guide and heal with pure medicine, with the intention of bringing well-being to all humanity. As healers, we believe that the true cure lies in the connection with nature and the medicine of plants, allowing ancestral wisdom to continue illuminating the path of those who seek authentic healing.
